Privacy policy

The short version

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no tracking pixels and loads nothing from third-party servers. The fonts are served from our own domain, not from Google. Nothing you do here is profiled.

The only personal data we handle is what your browser has to send to fetch a page, plus whatever you choose to tell us: either in the contact form at the bottom of the page, or by email.

Server log files

Our hosting provider automatically records the data your browser transmits when you request a page: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referrer, browser type and operating system.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is delivering the site reliably and defending it against attacks. This data is not merged with other sources and is not used to identify you.

Retention: retention period set by your hosting provider, typically 7 to 30 days, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Hosting

This site is hosted by hosting provider, company name and address on servers located in the European Union. The provider processes the log data described above on our behalf as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR, governed by a data processing agreement.

Fonts

The Geist typeface is bundled at build time and served from our own domain. No request is made to Google Fonts or any other font CDN when you visit, so no data reaches a third party through the font.

Contacting us

There are two ways to reach us, and you choose which. The contact form at the bottom of the page submits three things: your name, your email address, and your message. Nothing else is read from your browser, no cookie is set, and there is no hidden tracking attached to it.

What you submit is transmitted to the Quiet Real API, provider name and server location and used for one purpose: answering your enquiry. It is not passed to anyone else, not used for advertising, and not added to any mailing list.

The alternative is plain email: the address shown beside the form and in the About section opens your own email program with a message addressed to contact@quietreal.com, and nothing reaches us until you send it yourself.

Either way we process your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message in order to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the exchange concerns a contract or its preparation, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We keep enquiries for as long as answering them requires, and afterwards for as long as statutory retention obligations apply. Correspondence that leads to a contract is retained for the periods required by commercial and tax law.

Links to other services

The LinkedIn link on this site is an ordinary hyperlink, not an embedded widget. No data goes to LinkedIn until you click it, at which point that service's own privacy policy applies.

Client software and client data

This privacy policy covers this website only. When we build and host software for you, that is a separate relationship: you remain the controller of your data, we act as your processor, and we sign a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR before any of your data reaches our systems. Your data stays on servers in the European Union and is exportable at any time, including after you leave.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these, write to the address above. There is no charge and no procedure to follow.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin.

Transfers outside the EU, and automated decisions

We do not transfer personal data to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

Changes

If we change how this site works, we update this page and the date at the top of it. There is no version history to dig through: what is on this page is what currently applies.
